Currently filming on Alligator River Refuge

STRS Productions is currently filming on Alligator River NWR and has started the film off  with a major fire beginning on the Refuge from a lightning strike. Many of the animals that reside on the Refuge were forced to come out of the burning forest to escape the burning peat and the film crew has captured some astounding footage including Red Wolf and a large number of Black Bear. Of course large alligators are being caught on film along with a wide variety of snakes, reptiles and birds. Hurricane Irene struck the area in September and has made for a very interesting story. The film crew will be filming the Refuge through April and it looks like the arrival of the waterfowl is going to be a spectacle this year. Some of the most intimate shots of wildlife are being accumulated and STRS promises to bring you a documentary like no other.

STRS Productions Inc. has completed production on Roanoke River NWR, filming some of the most extrodinary wildlife scenes of the series. The film crew found themselves in this North Carolina swamp environment with huge snakes, beavers, waterfowl and an assortment of animals, reptiles and insects that exists in this unique habitat. Water once again played a major role in how and what the film crew was capturing. The filming started in April and the water levels on the Roanoke River were at it's peak. Twenty inches of rain in three days brought flooding and hard times for the wildlife at the beginning of Fall. Migratory song birds were infiltrating the swamp land and the mighty Roanoke made for a great setting for a wildlife documentary.

STRS Productions Inc. has completed production on the third film in the "Refuge" series on Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge. Once again weather played a major role on the content. Close call Hurricanes and North Easterly storms brought hardship on the Sea Turtle nest this season and many forms of wildlife suffered from the erosion these storms brought with them. Abundant Sea Birds and rare species were captured on film for the first time.

STRS Productions Inc. has finished production of the second of the "Refuge" series on Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge titled "Refuge - Pocosin Lakes". The film crew had been actively shooting since April 2008 and follows the award winning film "Refuge - Mattamuskeet". The Refuge experienced a major forest fire last year in June and made for a very interesting film presentation. Fire is no stranger to the Refuges in North Carolina and actually benefits many of the different plant species located on the Refuges. The Black Bear population has always been high at Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge and the fire made filming these beautiful creatures a spectacular event. The film shooting carried on through the winter arrival of the migratory waterfowl and the DVD is now available. Included are some of the photos taken during the filming of this series.
